Sealers
If you want your new concrete to last longer and look better, you should consider sealing your concrete with a quality concrete sealer.
The advantages far outweigh the cost in the long term. A sealer will keep the concrete from absorbing oil, rust, grease, mold, dirt, and greatly reduces pitting and spalling from winter salt. What a sealer does is closes off the pores of the concrete where the stains are absorbed into.
Stamped & colored concrete should be re-sealed every 2 years to keep the new look of the work.
Older concrete can be sealed at any time. It would just take a little extra effort to clean the old concrete first, then apply a quality sealer.
If you would book a new concrete job with us before 7-1-2017, we will include sealing your new concrete at no additional cost to you. This is a savings of between $100.00 to $300.00 to you.
Building Permits
At this time of our economy, building permits are required for just about every phase of construction. Speaking from our stand point, permits are a good thing. They protect the homeowner, making sure the contractors work is up to code.
Permits can be a hassle to get if you are not sure what you need for the type of permit required. We at K.R.T Concrete inc. will obtain permits for our projects at the cost of the permit so the project proceeds along smoothly.
Recycling
15 years or more ago when we removed the old concrete from a job, we would haul the old concrete into landfills. But these days we haul the old concrete to crushers. There they crush it into gravel, then sell it back to us and we use it in all of our sub grades on every job. As far as asphalt, it is hauled into the same crusher and it is ground and reused in streets, driveways, parking lots etc. When choosing your contractor, be sure that they are a green company.
Helpful Hints
1) If you have oil stains or grease on your driveway, here is a fast way to clean oil or grease from your concrete. First blot up excess oil or grease. Next spray with WD-40 making sure you soak the stain. Let stand for about 5 minutes, then blot up the stain. Older stains may need repeated soaking of WD-40. Let dry and the stain should be gone.
2) Do not put rock salt on brand new concrete unless it is sealed because it will eat the surface off of the new concrete.
